The thyroid hormone is essential for the proper functioning of the human body. Neonatal hypothyroidism is the condition in which there is a decreased production of thyroid hormones for the infants. At some case, there is zero production of thyroid hormone. If this condition is presents at the time of the infant’s birth, then it will be referred as congenital hypothyroidism. Suppose, the same condition is developed in the later part of the life, this condition is simply termed as hypothyroidism. The possible reason for this condition is improper functioning of the pituitary gland. This condition is rare. The symptoms of this condition are puffy face, jaundice, constipation, dry hair, short stature, sleepiness, etc. The replacement therapy with thyroxine is essential for this problem.
