Mitral stenosis is a problem that is related to the heart. This condition affects the heart valves, especially mitral valve. The function of the valve is separating the lower and upper chambers on the left portion of the heart. Stenosis is the term which means the heart valves does not open fully. So, the normal free blood flow is not possible. Mitral stenosis is the condition that does not allow the valves to open properly. The possible reasons for mitral stenosis are calcium deposits in the mitral valve, rheumatoid fever, birth defects, etc. Heredity is also one such reason for this condition. This condition is also possible from the time of the person’s birth. But the symptoms are shown after the person cross the age of 20. Chest pain is the main symptom. The treatment varies based on the symptom.
