Yellow fever is an acute hemorrhagic disease which is caused due to the transmission of infected mosquitoes. This is caused by a virus consisting of single stranded RNA ranging 40-50nm. This mainly occurs in the tropical and subtropical areas of South America and Africa. This yellow fever in the initial stage will be mild. Once it is not treated, it can cause even death to the patient. It proceeds with three main stage. Initially, Headache, muscle and joint aches, fever, flushing, loss of appetite, vomiting, and jaundice are common. These are normal symptoms of jaundice too. But in the case of yellow fever, the next stage is the period of remission. There is a chance of recovering in this stage. In case of moving to the third stage, which is dangerous occurs within 24 hours. This is called the period of intoxication. Here the patient suffers from multi-organ dysfunction, ultimately leading to death. There is no cure for yellow fever in the later stage. Vaccination is the only way which immunizes the body for 30-35 years. Hence proper medical checkup should be handled in case of the occurrence of the initial symptoms.
